The participants of “Russia 360” helicopter expedition departed from Domodedovo airport, the airport’s press-service reports.
“Igor Gurzhuenko and Viktor Sidelnikov intend to cover 30 thousand kilometers in 40-50 days flying through 8 time zones and 3 climatic zones on the light single engine helicopter Robinson R66”, - the airport’s press-service noted.
Significant part of their route goes through underexplored and uninhabited areas of Arctic Circle, Kamchatka and Siberia. Igor Gurzhuenko and Viktor Sidelnikov intend to set records in the area of sport aviation, carry out some ethnographic studies, inspect a number of remote regional airports and create a unique archive containing photos and videos.
“In the network of this expedition one of our goals is to make an overall picture of Russian airfields located far away from the economic centers of the country and to draw attention to development of general aviation in Russia”, - Igor Gurzhuenko, crew chief and leader of the expedition, said. “We are going to finish our expedition in Domodedovo”.
The crew will maintain an online journal (upon availability of Internet access) posting reports on their progress, unique photos and videos.
