Sheremetyevo international airport has closed the books on March and the first quarter of 2012. The number of serviced passengers has increased by 21,1% to 5 212 000 since the beginning of the year as compared to the last year’s indicators, the airport’s press-service reports.
“The passenger traffic in international airlines has increased by 19,8% to 3 328 000 passengers during the period from January to March, as for domestic airlines – by 23,4 % to 1 883 000 passengers”, – Sheremetyevo noted.
The number of transported passengers has increased by 20.7% in March 2012 to 1 851 000 ones. At that the passenger traffic in international airlines has increased by 21% to 1 168 000 passengers, as for domestic airlines – by 21% to 683 000 passengers
The most popular carriers of the first quarter are: Aeroflot, Transaero, Donavia, Nordavia, Air France, Aerosvit, CSA Czech Airlines. The most popular international destinations were Paris, Istanbul, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Prague, Kiev, Beijing, Bangkok and the federal ones were – St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Vladivostok, Rostov-on-Don and Sochi, the airport noted.
The airport has provided implementation of 51 380 takeoffs and landings in the first quarter of 2012 (+12.3% as compared to 2011). The number of takeoffs and landings in March has increased by 13% to 17886. According to ACI Europe, Sheremetyevo was the leader in February by increase of the passenger traffic (+22.7%) among the airports with passenger traffic of 10 million per year and more.
“Taking into account the high consumer and business activity and high demand for air transportation, Sheremetyevo intends to service about 25 million passengers in 2012”, – Sheremetyevo stated.
