Rockwell Collins joined an elite list of companies from around the world when it was named a first runner-up in the Transport category in the 2011 Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards. Rockwell Collins was recognized for synthetic vision on a Head-up Display (HUD), which enhances pilots’ situational awareness in low-visibility conditions and unfamiliar territory.
This year, the Wall Street Journal received 605 applications from companies, organizations and individuals in 31 countries. A total of 35 winners and runners-up in 16 categories were selected based on whether the innovation broke with conventional ideas or processes in its field; whether the innovation went beyond marginal improvements on something that already exists; and, whether it will have a wide impact in its field or on future technology.
The winners of the Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards will be honored at a ceremony on November 8.
