Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today unveiled its new Elite Interior, an all-new optional package featuring elements from the company’s ultra-large-cabin Gulfstream G650. The option is available for G550 and G450 aircraft.
“This is an opportunity for us to offer our large-cabin operators the timeless design aesthetic we introduced with the G650 and G280,” said Larry Flynn, president, Gulfstream. “Based on feedback we’ve received, customers want the option of selecting the more contemporary look typified by the G650 or the traditional Gulfstream look of our existing fleet. With the addition of the Elite package, we’re giving them that choice.”
The Elite Interior is the second interior option for Gulfstream’s large-cabin aircraft, joining the already existing Select Interior. Elite features an integrated interior design, the signature Gulfstream Cabin Management System and an easy-to-use galley.
“The Elite package is built on the brand DNA of the G650,” Flynn said. “Customers will see that the signature G650 look has been carefully tailored to accentuate the attributes of the G550 and G450. For example, the Elite package includes a racetrack accent embracing the aircraft’s lower sidewall. This design detail, which features French stitching, accentuates the aircraft’s sizable width.”
The sleek design begins with the passenger service units, which mirror the clean appearance of those on the G650. LED lighting is provided throughout the cabin, including automatically activated lights in the drawers, cabinets and closets. The Elite suite also features ambient lighting with an accent strip that softly illuminates the edges of the credenza, the table box and the galley.
That aesthetic continues in the galley, which was influenced by today’s kitchens. A stainless-steel-trimmed appliance stack houses two coffee makers, a microwave and a convection oven. Touch controls add an element of simplicity and sophistication, while hinged doors on the crystal storage unit can double as an added work surface. High-gloss, painted surfaces complete the contemporary look.
Additional conveniences can be found in the electrically operated console table and dual media servers.
New Powered Seats
In terms of comfort, the Elite package offers all-new club seating, including optional powered seats. Both are 27 inches wide, with 20 inches between the arm rests. Ergonomic details include a telescoping headrest with flexible wings, a continuous leg rest, full-flat berthing capability with the push of a button, and electric lumbar controls. The seats are equipped with a powered track-and-swivel release.
Additionally, the powered seats offer electric controls for the leg rest, backrest, back-cushion massage and back- and base-cushion heat. They also provide single-position memory preset and press-and-hold controls for full-upright and full-flat positions.
The Elite’s divan easily converts to a 78-by-39-inch bed. In its upright position, the divan sits closer to the floor and provides a 104-degree back angle for optimum seated comfort.
The Gulfstream Cabin Management System provides digital control of cabin systems through touch screens, capacitive touch switches and passenger control units. Using an iPod touch® that carries a Gulfstream-designed application, passengers will be able to control the lighting, temperature, speakers, monitors, entertainment equipment, window shades, CabinViewTM Passenger Information System and attendant call from anywhere on the aircraft.
Cabin Essential Redundancy
The cabin management system has been designed to ensure no single-point failure will result in the complete loss of system functionality. This philosophy, known as Cabin EssentialTM, applies to every aspect of the system, including the lighting, cabin control and entertainment systems.
Gulfstream introduced the Elite Interior option at the National Business Aviation Association Convention & Meeting in Las Vegas. The interior is available for viewing on the company’s new G450 demonstrator. The demonstrator is cloaked in a striking combination of piano-black accents and stone-gray leather with a high-gloss, cashmere-colored galley.
