MAKS-2011 kicks off

The international annual air show MAKS-2011 has kicked off at Zhukovsky, near Moscow. The show is expected to prove one of the biggest to date now that over 800 companies from 40 countries have put their products on display. The Russian United Aircraft Building Corporation will specifically sign contracts for the delivery of some 100 medium-range Sukhoi Superjet and MS-21 aircraft. The Corporation is also exhibiting state-of-the-art planes and helicopters that it will annually supply to the Russian Defence Ministry. The Russian space agency ROSKOSMOS is due to exhibit the promising medium-capacity launcher of increased lift capacity Rus-M and the manned spacecraft that are slated to take off from Russia’s Vostochny new space centre. President Dmitry Medvedev said in his message of greeting that he is certain that MAKS-2011 will contribute to promoting an advanced know-how, as well as Russia’s high-tech products on foreign markets.
