The PRISM annual Safety Management System (SMS) Audit Results report highlights the most common SMS deficiencies in Part 91 and Part 135 operations.
PRISM reviewed and compiled the results from 65 audits on private and commercial business aircraft flight operations conducted by ARGUS PROS. The 2010 SMS Audit Results report focuses on areas of SMS and Emergency Response Planning that were found by auditors to have the highest number of deficiencies.
“The detailed report provides operators with benchmarking type data that gives them the opportunity to evaluate their own safety programs against some of the most professional companies in the industry,” stated Steve Witowski, PRISM Director of System Safety. “After reviewing the report, we found a vast majority of the audit findings pointed to a lack of SMS training. Employees need to be active participants and have a good understanding of safety management concepts in order for an SMS to be effective.”
