Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced an order from Asia Jet for three aircraft, a Gulfstream G150, G200 and G250. The aircraft will be in charter service from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport following delivery in 2011 and 2012.
Asia Jet, a Hong Kong-based private charter company, was recently named as the exclusive sales and marketing agent for all Part 135 aircraft under China Eastern Airlines’ newly formed Aircraft Operating Certificate for the region. Asia Jet announced that it has signed an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding with China Eastern Airlines to manage these aircraft in Mainland China. Asia Jet has one of the largest charter fleets in the region, with offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo.
“These are capable, comfortable, highly-productive aircraft. We have had a great experience with Gulfstream products and know the market will be very pleased with these proven performers and our exceptional level of personalized service,” said Mike Walsh, Asia Jet CEO.
“We applaud Asia Jet and its forward-looking management for expanding its China operations. We see strong demand in the region and have every expectation their new Shanghai base will be a success,” said Roger Sperry, Gulfstream regional senior vice president, Sales, South America and Far East. “We will provide legendary Gulfstream product support to help ensure Asia Jet’s success.”
The wide-cabin, high-speed Gulfstream G150 is the fastest mid-size business jet in the world today with a range of 3,000 nautical miles (5,560 km).
The G200 established the super-midsize segment and has a range of 3,400 nautical miles (6,300 km). The G250, currently in flight test, will be largest, most capable aircraft in the super-midsize segment. It will be certified in 2011 with initial deliveries beginning next year.
