New Jeppesen Flight Traking Application Provides Aircraft Position Reports as Part of a Total Flight Planning Solution
Jeppesen Flight Tracking, a recently introduced flight planning capability, now allows operators to view aircraft position reports within the JetPlan.com and JetPlanner applications, as part of an integrated Jeppesen flight planning solution suite. Through processing of aircraft position report data supplied through several global sources, the new Jeppesen solution now allows for worldwide IFR flight tracking. The Jeppesen Flight Tracking solution is available for the business, commercial and military aviation industries. The new flight tracking system develops aircraft position reports processed from three possible data sources, depending on flight location. The primary data source is supplied through the FAA Aircraft Situation Display for Industry (ASDI) feed, covering all IFR flight plans filed in the United States and for aircraft that depart or arrive in the U.S. Flight tracking information processed through the Jeppesen Class 1 ASDI data feed is presented in near real-time, with one-minute updates in radar controlled areas. The EuroControl Central Flow Management Unit data distribution service to aircraft operators (CFMU DDS to AO) information feed received by Jeppesen will track European aircraft positions. For those operating outside of Europe and North America, Jeppesen can incorporate operator ACARS position reports into the Jeppesen flight tracking database to allow customers to display aircraft position through the JetPlan.com and JetPlanner applications. Flight tracking filters can be created to track individual aircraft or groups of aircraft by company call sign, departure or arrival airport. Current position and detailed flight status information is graphically presented. The PC-based JetPlanner interface allows operators to customize display aircraft positions using the Jeppesen Chart Viewing background. A variety of Jeppesen weather maps can be overlaid with aircraft positions. As added security measures associated with the new Jeppesen Flight Tracking service, operators who wish to view FAA ASDI position reports must sign an agreement with Jeppesen and complete an FAA self audit form. European operators interested in viewing CFMU DDS to AO position reports are required to register with EuroControl.
