PrivatAir may offer three Dreamliners

PrivatAir has underlined its commitment to raise the level of luxury on offer at the top end of the private charter market by signing an agreement that could see it offer a fleet of three 787-8 Dreamliners.

The Swiss-based company says it has ordered a second 787-8 Dreamliner for delivery in 2016 - and it confirms that it has also secured the right to purchase an additional 787 to boost its high end fleet still further.

"The ever-increasing demand from charter customers for long-range, large cabin aircraft shows no sign of abating," says Greg Thomas, PrivatAir ceo. "This latest order will further expand the capabilities of PrivatAir´s fleet, enabling our passengers to travel further, faster and in greater comfort. PrivatAir is strategically placed to provide its customers with the widest range of travel options."

PrivatAir´s second Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner is Boeing´s first 787 VIP order of 2008. The value of the sale has not been disclosed; however it is estimated at 2 million at catalogue prices. The order will complement PrivatAir´s existing Boeing fleet which already includes a 767, a 757, a BBJ2 and two BBJ1s - all with vip or business configurations. The fleet will be further boosted by the arrival of PrivatAir´s first Dreamliner 787-8 which is due to be delivered in 2012.

PrivatAir is aware of Boeing´s recently announced 787 delivery delays. However, the company says it believes that such "challenges" are inevitable during the production of new aircraft and anticipates that these delays will have no major impact on the business.
