Two US private equity funds are paying $ 436m to take over Landmark Aviation, one of the leading US operators of service bases for users of private jets, from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise. Demand for business aviation has been growing strongly this year with record orders placed for new jets and waiting lists of two to three years for the most popular aircraft. Senior executives and wealthy individuals are increasingly seeking to avoid the hassle of commercial air travel through large, congested hub airports.
The Landmark and the much smaller Encore networks of service bases are to be merged into a single organisation, operating under the Landmark Aviation brand, comprising 42 bases in North America and western Europe.
