Honda Aero will break ground on its corporate headquarters and jet-engine plant in Burlington this week, the company said.
Honda Aero, a joint venture between Honda and GE, will manufacture the GE-Honda HF120 engine at the facility. That engine will be used in the "very light jet" market, including in the Honda Aviation-made HondaJet, which is being tested and made in Greensboro.
Honda Aero plans to employ about 70 people when the plant is running at full capacity, which should be within about a year of production starting. Honda Aero is investing about $ 27 million in the facility.
