Europe´s general and business aviation manufacturers have set up their own version of the USA´s successful General Aviation Manufacturers Association.
The European General Aviation Manufacturers Group says its aim will be to "co-ordinate certain industry issues at a European strategic high-level angle" and "foster common co-ordinated industrial views". It will become a sectoral group of the Aerospace and Defense Industries Association of Europe (ASD).
ASD president Charles Edelstenne, who also heads Dassault Aviation, says: "In Europe alone, there are between 30,000 and 50,000 general aviation aircraft in use. Business aviation is also growing twice as fast as the traditional commercial airline sector."
