Embraer - Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica S/A announces to its shareholders, financial market, suppliers and to the public, that the Board of Directors approved on a meeting held in March 28, 2007, the launch of two new models of business jets currently named as Embraer MSJ and Embraer MLJ.
The new models belong to the midsize and midlight categories, with capacity for 7 to 12 passengers plus 2 crew members, and will be positioned on the Company’s portfolio between the Phenom 300, of the light jet category, and the Legacy 600, of the super midsize category.
Embraer estimates total investments on research and development for the new models to be around of US $ 750 million, and it will be supported by risk-sharing partners, financial institutions and by the Company’s own cash generation. The Embraer MSJ jet is expected to enter into service in the second semester of 2012, and the Embraer MLJ jet is expected to enter into service in the second semester of 2013.
According to Embraer estimates, the midsize and midlight categories might represent 21% of business jets deliveries for the next ten years, out of 13,150 total aircraft expected to be delivered.
Thus Embraer confirms the commitment firmed with the shareholders and customers to offer integrated solutions with products and services of excellence to the executive aviation market.
The Company’s firm order backlog of executive jets totals approximately US $ 4,5 billion.
