Bombardier Highlights Speed, Range and Comfort With the Global 5000 Jet at ILA

Leading business jet manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace will exhibit its high-speed Global 5000 business jet at the Berlin Air Show (ILA) from May 27 to June 1, in Berlin, Germany. The aircraft will be open for viewing throughout the entire show in display area 1, at Schonefeld Airport.

“The Global 5000 business jet is a model of quality, performance and efficiency, and has been well received by our European customers,” said Bob Horner, senior vice-president, sales, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “Its versatile design, large cabin and speed makes it an effective business tool and luxurious ride. The aircraft is also ideal for specialized mission capabilities and government transport. It is a prime example of the innovative products and travel solutions Bombardier continues to bring to market.”

The aircraft jet combines superior transatlantic speed with the largest cabin in the super large segment. It features state-of-the-art high-speed Internet connectivity and unmatched entertainment options as standard equipment as well as a heads-up flight display system, with the largest field-of-view of any business aircraft. With a recent range increase of 400 NM (741 km) the jet can now connect London-Los Angeles, and Sao-Paulo-Paris non-stop with eight passengers and three crew*. The Global 5000 jet can link Tokyo-Berlin and Berlin-Seattle non-stop*.

The Global 5000 jet is now available with the Global Vision flight deck. The new Pro Line Fusion avionics suite is paired with superior design aesthetics from world-renowned design consultancy firm Design Q, to create the ultimate flight control environment, providing Global aircraft pilots with an unprecedented level of situational awareness and comfort.

Proven Performance

In October 2007, the Global 5000 jet set a new trans-atlantic speed record, flying 3,652 nautical miles (6,765 km) non-stop from Berlin to Washington in just eight hours, 17 minutes. The aircraft departed Berlin´s Schönefeld Airport (EDDB) with a three-person crew and a payload equivalent to 12 passengers – a fuel surplus of 1,200 pounds (544 kg) above reserves and seven passengers. This fourth NAA-sanctioned world record performance for the Global 5000 jet represents the fastest time ever recorded for a civil flight between Berlin and Washington, DC.
