EAA AirVenture, OSHKOSH, WI – Monday, July 28, 2008 – Avidyne Corporation has submitted documentation to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and expects that an Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for “Compatibility Mode” on their TWX670 Tactical Lightning Detection system is imminent . This STC will allow the TWX670 to interface with a large number of displays produced by other manufacturers including many popular MFDs, GPSs, and EHSIs. In addition, aircraft that have a compatible Avidyne display can simultaneously display the TWX670’s lightning detection data on other displays in the cockpit for added redundancy and increased safety.
The TWX670 has seven discrete RS-232 output ports to drive multiple Avidyne MFDs, or any combination of compatible 3rd-party MFD or electronic flight bag (EFBs) displays.
“Avidyne is an industry leader in providing products with numerous interface options. Compatibility translates into greater flexibility and reduced installation costs,” according to Rob Higby, Avidyne’s vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service. “The TWX670 with ‘Compatibility Mode’ is just the latest example of Avidyne’s commitment to make flying simple, safe and available to the largest number of aircraft,” he said.
