Rosoboronpostavka issued an open tender for development of Yak-152 trainer aircraft (code “Ptichka-VVS”) intended for Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD). The corresponding document was posted at the website dedicated to the state procurement, ITAR-TASS reports. The value of the contract for development of Yak-152 basic turboprop trainer aircraft is 300 million rubles (set by the Ministry of Defense). Potential prime contractor - Irkut Corporation, assessed the contract at 318,7 million rubles. The aircraft must complete the state testing and must be put into service not later than November 25th 2016. "Yak-152 aircraft is intended for initial pilot training, professional selection and occupational guidance of future military pilots. Yak-152 should be suitable for operation by flight schools of the MoD, aeroclubs of DOSAAF (Voluntary Association for Assistance to Army, Air Force and Navy) and other organizations", - said in the tender documentation. The cadets will use the aircraft to learn the basics of piloting technique and navigation, aerobatic maneuvers, formation flying and flying on instruments. After completion of initial training the cadets will switch to Yak-130 operational trainers. The maximum speed of the new aircraft should be about 300-320 km/h, ceiling – 4000 m, takeoff distance - 300 m, range - 1400 km. The service life of Yak-152 must be at least 10.000 hours or 30.000 cycles, calendar time - 30 years. Besides the aircraft, the ground support, control and training equipment must also be developed in the network of research and development work. The working design documentation should be elaborated by September 30th 2014. Four Yak-152 prototypes (two ones - for flight testing, one – for static tests and one more – for life testing) should be manufactured by October 30th 2015. The state testing must be completed by September 30th 2016. The testing will be carried out at Chkalov State Proving Flying Center in Akhtubinsk. Yak-152 will be powered by German-produced diesel engine and fitted with a variable-pitch propeller. The new trainer will have a retractable landing gear and two ejection seats. It is stated in the annex to the tender documentation that in the network of the project an aerodynamic configuration has been elaborated in cooperation with SibNIA (Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute named after S.A. Chaplygin), spin tests have been carried out by TsAGI (Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky), ejection seats have successfully passed the state tests and Transas Company has already developed electric diagrams for Yak-152.
