JETS.ru introduces some key figures of foreign-made business jet fleet belonging to/operated for Russian owners.
According to United Business Aviation Association data a fleet of over 280 foreign-made bizjets belongs to or is operated for Russian owners while most of these aircraft are not in Russian registry. Large, Long-range jets and so-called Business liners or converted airliners are the most popular aircraft constituting 62 per cent of the whole fleet. The high-end birds are followed by midsize jets with a 33 per cent share, turboprops (3 per cent) and light jets (2 per cent).
Bombardier’s models constitute up to 39 per cent of the whole fleet, Hawker Beechcraft jets keep a share of 15 per cent including older models manufactured by British Aerospace and Raytheon Aircraft. Dassault Falcon, Gulfstream Aerospace and Embraer are the next in the top five with 14, 11 and 8 per cent respectively.
Thorough analysis of UBAA and AMSTAT data shows that the mean age of the fleet is 7 years while almost one-third of the aircraft is younger than 2 years.
More than half (53 per cent) of Russian-owned bizjets are registered in EU-countries, 28 per cent have offshore registration, 9 per cent – USA and 8 – Russian Federation.
